Growing up as a cradle Catholic, the priesthood was never something I was heavily opposed to. However, as someone who spends more time thinking about the past rather than the future, I was resolved to think more about the priesthood when the decision came closer. Moreover, I began taking spiritual direction my junior year of high school, during which, the priest told me, “Don’t stress about your vocation until two months before graduation.” Accordingly, I began discerning in March and came to a decision in May. During that time, as I experienced beauty, whether in liturgy, art, or theology, my heart was consistently drawn to one thing: spreading the joy of Christian beauty through the priesthood. The Lord made it clear to me that I should enter seminary, and he will in the future make it clear to me if I should continue until priesthood.
