I grew up always wanting to be a doctor or an engineer, a “doc-ineer” I would call it—a combination of both career choices. It wasn’t until the second grade when I was hospitalized with a severe illness and survived that I made the decision to choose the medical career path as a means to help those who were in a situation similar to the one in which I was in. However, in early January of 2019, I truly began hearing God’s call profoundly, and the thought of becoming a priest began to pester my mind to the point in which I couldn’t even concentrate on my schoolwork. It was then that I answered the call and chose to discern priesthood.
