JESSE ALEXANDER SAUCEDO
My vocation story starts in my sophomore year of high school. I first felt a calling during a discernment retreat called Quo Vadis which means, “Where are you going?” This saying stuck in my head, yet I knew hardly anything about the priesthood. I dodge the calling throughout my junior year and most of my senior year. I finally began seriously looking into the priesthood at the end of my senior year. I attended a second retreat called the Heart of Jesus. It was there that I made the commitment to discern full time, and I moved into the Saint Charles Borromeo House of Discernment in my diocese. I lived there for a year and the call became more and more clear. I attended the Heart of Jesus retreat once more and firmly committed to seminary, requesting the application from my vocation director immediately following the retreat.

“But he said to me, ‘my grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9a,10
I come from a devoutly Catholic family of 13 total (mom, dad and 11 children: 7 daughters and 4 sons). I am the 6th oldest child but the youngest son.
