Formation Advisor

Reverend Bryan Heyer

I am Fr. Bryan Heyer from the Diocese of Victoria in Texas.  I was born and raised in Victoria, attended Catholic primary and secondary schools and upon graduating, I attended Texas A&M University where I graduated with a degree in Rangeland Ecology and Management in 1996.  I was very involved with Saint Mary’s Catholic Student Center, and it was there I first began to discern the priesthood.  I went to work for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.  After working for about a year, I decided to explore this growing invitation to serve the Church as a priest.  I entered Holy Trinity Seminary in the fall of 1997 as a pre-theology seminarian.  I continued my discernment and formation at Saint Mary’s Seminary in Houston, and in 2004 I was ordained as a priest of Jesus Christ.  I served in three parishes as a parochial vicar, and in 2010 I became pastor of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Palacios, TX.  In 2016, I was appointed pastor of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner, TX and its preK-12th grade school.  I have also had the opportunity to be the pastor supervisor of 6 pastoral year seminarians, the president of the presbyteral council, and I served on the presbyteral council for 17 years.  In November of 2024 I was invited by Holy Trinity Seminary to join the formation facult, and with Bishop Brendan Cahill’s encouragement, I gratefully accepted.  I pray that I may accompany the men as they discern their discipleship in service to their God who loves them.

In my spare time, I enjoy hunting and fishing.  I am also an avid vinyl record collector.
