Spiritual Director

Reverend Charlie Garza

I was born in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in Plano, Texas. During my time as a student at Texas A&M University, my family moved to Round Rock, Texas. I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then studied at Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving and St. Mary Seminary in Houston. In 2010, I received a Masters of Divinity, a Master of Arts in Theology, and a Bachelor of Sacred Theology from St. Thomas University. I was also ordained a priest for the Diocese of Austin that year.

My pastoral assignments as a parochial vicar were at San Jose Parish in Austin and Santa Cruz Parish in Buda. I also served as the pastor at St. Martin de Porres Parish in Dripping Springs and most recently at St. Albert the Great Parish in Austin. In 2017, I received a certificate in Spiritual Direction and Retreat Direction from the Institute of Priestly Formation. I am the eldest of three and have two nieces and a nephew. My hobbies are hiking, photography, reading science fiction, and playing with my nephew and nieces. My dream is to be the first priest in space.
