Reverend Mark Garrett
I was born and raised in Rockwall, Texas. I am the first son of my parents’ 5 kids, with one older sister and three younger brothers. Shortly after graduating from Rockwall High School, I entered Holy Trinity Seminary and the University of Dallas, graduating in 2015. Upon graduation I started at Theological College and Catholic University of America where I received a M. Div. and S.T.B. After finishing my time in seminary, I was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Dallas on May, 30, 2020.
In July of 2020, I started my first assignment as a priest serving as Parochial Vicar of St. Monica Catholic Church. After my first year there, in July 2021, I was assigned also to Bishop Lynch High School as Chaplain. This changed again in July 2022 when I left my first assignment to serve as Parochial Vicar of the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In July 2023, Bishop Burns assigned me to be the Vocation Director for the Diocese of Dallas, a position I still serve in and am thankful for his continued trust to do so on his behalf. This most recent July 2025, after 4 years, I left my role as Chaplain of Bishop Lynch High School and was assigned as Formation Advisor at Holy Trinity Seminary.
Being born and raised in the Diocese of Dallas, I have been overwhelmed by the love of God’s people for His priests. We serve in a special role on behalf of Jesus Christ and the Bishop of Dallas, but we do so because God has placed that call on our hearts. I felt that at a young age and continue to be reminded of it through my work in vocations and seminary formation.
