I have felt the call to priesthood ever since the 5th grade, and I did much volunteer work during high school to prepare myself for a life of service. I even attended a discernment dinner two times a year during high school, despite having a girlfriend in my sophomore and junior years. I no longer had plans to attend seminary at the beginning of my senior year, but I felt a continuous tug to join the seminary immediately after high school, whether that meant becoming a priest or simply developing greater intimacy with the Lord. By God’s loving grace, I applied to be a seminarian for the Diocese of Beaumont in December of that year and was accepted the following March.
